Thinking Differently

Over the last 9 years we have been creating a research and development programme that has led to a knowledge that we need to think differently and strategically. We can see from our findings and data that the standard and long accepted approach may only be delivering facilities to a minority of the market and population. So, during the past eight years LA has been developing models and design approaches that are based upon reaching those markets, increasing utilisation, economic and social sustainability. We can design what the population needs by looking again at relevant data.

In addition, we have worked with R&D and medical specialists to define and understand the meanings of health and wellbeing as they may impact upon the future of sports and leisure buildings.

The results of this work were the subject of a series of invitations to address conferences in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Uppsala and Helsinki between October 2024 and March 2025.

These in turn have led LA to work with Helsinki City Council and invitations to discuss an ambitious approach with Lund City Council.

LA has also applied this method of data based “thinking differently” to bring forward innovative projects at St Thomas Fields in Ireland and Newport Wellbeing complex in Wales.
