Located to the south of Bristol city centre, Hengrove Park Leisure Centre formed part of a PFI-led regeneration strategy for the area.
The centre provides the city’s first 50m swimming pool, designed to Olympic standards, and also includes a 20x10m teaching and training pool, 4 court sports hall, fitness suite, studios and a climbing wall. A large new public plaza designed as part of the scheme ties the building to the wider site and forms a gateway to the park.
The building utilises 10% of its energy from renewable resources, and was the first leisure centre in the UK to achieve a BREEAM excellent rating.
“Effectively by combining their flair and vision for project winning concepts, with their dedication to understanding client requirements and providing detailed designs to suit, means that LA architects always deliver and have a very strong reputation in the leisure sector that they truly deserve. In short they are an invaluable member of our supply chain.”Jeremy Lightfoot - Managing Director, Parkwood Consultancy Services
