LA have been commissioned to design Newport’s latest landmark building. It will be a new leisure, community, health and wellbeing centre on Usk Way, Newport, Gwent. The new state of the art building is to be built upon a brownfield site on the edge of the River Usk in the City Centre.
Accessed through a triple height foyer, facilities will include new ways of using water and dry halls to create more active communities and spaces that encourage people of all ages to consider health and movement. It will also provide a garden and active exercise roof paying close attention to human needs and increased biodiversity and ecological benefits.
The new leisure centre will be built to Wales LZC requirement BREEAM excellent standards, with sustainability and future-proofing at its core. The Client is Newport Norse acting on behalf of Newport City Council.
